Sea Base in 2024

Our high adventure trip for 2024 will be the St. Thomas Sailing Adventure at the BSA Sea Base. Scouts will experience the allure of the U.S. Virgin Islands. Here, the trade winds blow, offering some of the best sailing in the world. Upon arrival, your crew will board a 50-foot vessel with an experienced captain. Most units attain the 50 Miler Award as they circumnavigate the crystal blue waters surrounding the island of St. John. In addition to sailing, our crew will snorkel pristine coral reefs, hike in Virgin Islands National Park, swim ashore to incredible beaches, and more!

Here's a great article from Scouting Magazine about a female crew of Venture Scouts that went to the Sea Base in 2017. It will give you a good idea of what to expect there. We'll set up training classes to teach you the elements of sailing before we leave.

The Troop 541 crew, together with four crews from 542, will depart on June 29, 2024. The 541 crew of Scouts and leaders is full, but if you're not signed up and want to go you can put your name on the wait list. It's very likely a slot will open up since the trip is so far in the future. If you'll be 13 years old by June 28, 2024, and can pass the BSA swimming qualification, you are eligible for the trip. We won't know the exact price for the trip until we're able to book airline tickets, but we anticipate it to be about $3000/person. We've established a payment schedule of $100 deposit in 2022 and then $225/month starting in February 2023 through February 2024.
