Sea Base in 2027

Our high adventure trip for 2027 will be a trip to a Scouting America Sea Base. Scouts will experience the allure of either the Florida Keys, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or the Bahamas. Here, the trade winds blow, offering some of the best sailing in the world. Upon arrival, your crew will board a 50-foot vessel with an experienced captain. Most units attain the 50 Miler Award as they circumnavigate the crystal blue waters. In addition to sailing, our crew will snorkel pristine coral reefs, swim ashore to incredible beaches, and more!

Our Scouts had a great time at the St. Thomas Sea Base in 2024, and we're doing a Sea Base trip again in 2027 on our nomal three year cycle. We need to enter a lottery to get the adventure, and we are considering four options for Sea Base 2027:

• Coral Reef Sailing (Islamorada, Florida)
• Out Island (Brinton Center, Florida)
• St. Thomas Sailing or
• Bahamas Tall Ship

Those who sign up and vote by December 5, 2025 will take part in prioritizing the choices we enter the lottery for.

The Troop 541 crew, together with crews from 542, will probably depart in late June or early July of 2027. Two leaders have already agreed to be part of the 541 crew, and our crew will likely be limited to 9 Scouts and one more leader, so if you want to go, you should sign up right away. If you'll be 13 years old by June 15, 2027, and can pass the BSA swimming qualification, you are eligible for the trip. We won't know the exact price for the trip until we're able to book airline tickets, but we anticipate it to be about $3500/person. We're asking for a $100 deposit now and will establish a payment schedule that will run from February 2026 through February 2027.
